One in three to zero – Mothers’ Union support for campaign against Gender-based Violence
Mothers’ Union is proud to participate again this year in the international campaign ’16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence’. This year we are calling for ‘one in three to zero’ – for the number of women globally experiencing domestic abuse to go from one in three women to zero.
Governments need to help create a culture where violence against women and girls (VAWG) is unacceptable, starting with educating children and young people about loving and flourishing relationships. There needs to be robust laws against all forms of VAWG with proper law enforcement and access to justice for survivors, who also need support services; also the perpetrators need rehabilitation.
Stapleford Mothers’ Union Branch is again supporting the campaign by collecting toiletries for the Cambridge Women’s Refuge. There will be a box in the church porch for donations of soap, toothpaste, tissues, face cloths and handcream from 25 November to 10 December 2015.
Please support the campaign through your gifts. Last year three large boxes were collected – thank you to all who contributed last time, and we hope we can count on your continued support.
