You don’t have to be a member of the church to request a prayer.
Simply venture inside our church and just behind the door on the left you will find a board on the wall. This board is for anyone to leave Prayer Requests. You don’t have to write a lengthy reason for your prayer or even leave your name if you don’t want to. A simple, ‘Please pray for (e.g my mum) she’s not well’, or ‘Our family are having problems please pray for us’, or ‘I’ve been diagnosed with ……. please pray for me’.
So what happens to these prayers? Well, each Tuesday afternoon a member of the Mother’s Union, (a Christian organisation which promotes marriage and family life) includes in her prayers any requests that have been left on the board. On Friday mornings a group from the church meet to pray for world events and people in the local community, including prayer requests from the board.
In 2015 we are planning for the prayers to be taken up to the altar on the last Sunday of the month and offered up to God.
If you have a concern or worry we invite you to leave a prayer request. You have nothing to lose but maybe much to gain…
I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year
“Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”
And he replied, “Go into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God.
That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way!”
So I went forth and finding the Hand of God trod gladly into the night.
